contemplative pulpit

“In the adjacent park, Oliver Gather brings the focus back to people by constructing a contemplative pulpit as a materialized self-reflection: In Gather’s construction, a loop-shaped tube leads back into the pulpit where the hatch would otherwise open up a view of the landscape. This quite literally closes a circle.” Emmanuel Walderdorff

After “Highly Perched”, another sculpture was realized in 2021 that questions the contemplative aspect of sitting up high. In the “Contemplative Pulpit”, there is no reflection in the other person, so that the user, shielded in the dark pulpit, can focus exclusively on themselves.
