Live transmission from the canal
The Rumbach, important for the development of the city of Mülheim, has completely disappeared from today’s cityscape. It flows in a large, now historic canal under the city.
An image of today’s stream in the canal is transmitted live to a monitor on the surface of the pedestrian zone.
The history of the city and its invisible stratification is brought to the current surface, similar to an endoscopy. At the same time, the stream – constantly changing in color, water level and flow velocity – emerges as a currently existing phenomenon of the city.
